Roundup of Tips for Cantors

This post may contain affiliate links. I only promote products I use and love.

This post will outline all of the resources and tips I have compiled over my 2.5 year journey of discovering more about what it means to be a cantor. The music part of the cantoring comes easily to me since I have been classically trained as a choir teacher.

The other side of being a cantor? Best practices and what is appropriate and what is not? I am just learning about these. Hopefully, you are in a position where you want to learn, too. I will provide all of my current resources right here in this post!

Are you ready to get started? Good, here we go!

Tips From Other Music Ministers!

Meet Mike Carney. He has been a music minister for 15 years. Check out his YouTube Channel and his website, Music Ministry 101, for more details! Here is his best tip for cantors:

Know that the purpose of the cantor is to get the congregation to sing. If you know this, you will do things to ‘will them’ to sing. In the way you look at them, in the way you introduce the music, and in the way you sing it. You have to want them to sing with you and they will sense the message and start following suite!
